"Zepher"
32 inch ketch
Balsa planked
1994
| "Zepher" was an incredibly fast boat. (Still is
if I sail her) Very lightly built with a deep fin and bulb keel. At that
time I was interested in the idea that a light boat, rigged as a ketch
with a low center of effort and long hull, could go really fast
down-wind in a hard blow. Since she never "Nose-dived" she
simply went faster instead. The name is a word that I think means the
lightest gentlest possible wind. I wish that some day I could find the words to describe my thoughts about the wind. I guess its a means of propelling my Religion which I have invented. |
